Descent into Inherited Bodies
This first series depicts women drawn from Jewish narrative lineages, including dominant figures and those only briefly named or left nameless and used as narrative devices for other stories, and re-entered through the female body. Across the sequence, the work moves from surface toward interior, from presentation, pose, and visible form into darker, less legible spaces of flesh, memory, exposure, and concealment. The painted body becomes a site of inheritance, erasure, presentation, and interior life, carrying biological and cultural transmission even as it distorts, blurs, and leaks. At the same time, the paintings register a stripping-back in my own process, mirroring the relinquishing of decorum, clarity, and distance in favor of damp, unstable, insistent matter.
הסדרה הראשונה מציגה נשים הלקוחות משושלות נרטיביות יהודיות, ובתוכן דמויות מרכזיות לצד דמויות הנרמזות בקצרה או נותרות ללא שם ומשמשות אמצעי עלילתי עבור סיפורים אחרים, ומובאות מחדש דרך הגוף הנשי. לאורך הרצף, הציורים נעים מפני השטח - אל הפנים, מן ההצגה, התנוחה והצורה הנראית – אל מרחבים חשוכים וקריאים פחות של בשר, זיכרון, חשיפה והסתרה. הגוף המצוייר הופך לזירה של הורשה, מחיקה, הופעה וחיים פנימיים, הנושאים שֶדֶר ביולוגית ותרבותית גם כאשר הוא מתעוות, מיטשטש ודולף. במקביל, הציורים מתעדים תהליך התקלפות בתוך תהליך העבודה שלי, המשקף ויתור על נְאותות, על בהירות ועל מרחק לטובת חומר לח, לא יציב ותובעני.
